Many homeowners overlook this critical issue when sizing solar systems. If your solar array’s voltage goes beyond the inverter’s MPPT range, it can no longer track or convert power effectively—leading to shutdowns and power loss.
But here’s the bigger danger: if the voltage exceeds the inverter’s maximum input rating (Voc limit), it can permanently damage key components like capacitors and transistors. Unlike current, excess voltage can’t be trimmed or ignored—the inverter simply can’t handle it.
👉 This is why proper system design is vital, especially in colder climates where solar panel voltage naturally increases. Always ensure your solar array’s Voc stays below the inverter’s maximum rating at the lowest expected temperature.
✅ A well-planned system not only protects your investment but also saves you from costly repairs and warranty voids.
